Lilac Breasted Roller

The Lilac Breasted Roller is among the rollers family here in Africa and in Uganda is mostly found at Lake Mburo national park. It is good to note that these Lilac Breasted Rollers are hard to be spotted in places with no trees simply because these Lilac Breasted Rollers take a lot of time relaxing in trees waiting for the right time to spot food. The Lilac Breasted rollers feed on insects, lizards’ scorpions and so many other crawling creatures. Singles and pairs are common ­­­

How does a Lilac-breasted Roller sing or makes its calls? 

Lilac breasted roller makes its call by sing “rak, rak, rak” and it always makes this call while in air flying

Which food do lilac Breasted roller feed on?                                                                    

Lilac breasted rollers get there food from  the ground and that is why they relax on top of the trees to spot insects, lizards, scorpions and other crawling creatures in order to win food.

How does the Lilac breasted Roller in Uganda make it’s nest?                                          

These Lilac-breasted Rollers are somehow lazy when it comes to making their nests because they always lay grass in the already hollowed trees such as coconut trees or even use holes for kingfishers and woodpeckers to make their nests.

How do Lilac Breasted roller reproduce?

They always lay two to four eggs and both the male and female Lilac Breasted roller contribute on incubating the eggs for example when the female is incubating the male goes to look for food.
