Day 1:  Arrival in Kigali at Kanombe International Airport.

Upon your arrival at Kanombe International Airport in Kigali, you will be met by a representative from Terrain safaris. He will the give you a short brief about your tour and transfer  later to your respective Hotel in Kigali for dinner and overnight stay (Hotel Chezlando.

Day 2: Depart for Nyungwe Forest National Park

After an early morning breakfast, we start birding as we transfer to Nyungwe forest national park en route visiting the traditional palace of Rwanda’s Former King in Nyanza. Drive past green fields of tea scattered on the hillside slopes and the small wooden houses unique to the areas surrounding Nyungwe Forest. This drive may take you approximately 6 hours. Dinner and overnight at RDB Gisakura Guest House.

Day 3: Nyungwe Forest Guided Canopy birding walk 

Early morning birding, you will be served breakfast and after transfer for a canopy walk with in the forest. Specifically, the canopy walk is good for birders so as to enable them spot a variety of bird species with in the forest. While enjoying the canopy walk, look out for birds like the Rwenzori Turaco, black and White-Casqued Hornbill and also do not miss spots of large troops of Angora Colobus monkeys.

Return to the Guest House or lodge for lunch after which you will go for the afternoon guided tour in the areas around Nyungwe forest National Park. Dinner and overnight at RDB Gisakura Guest House.

Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest National Park.

After a fully served breakfast at the lodge, you will go for the chimpanzee tracking activity with in the forest. You will set out when its still dark like 5:00am in the morning and reach the area where the chimpanzees are found with in the forest when its already day like at 6:00am.

Take your time and watch the chimpanzees. Besides the Chimpanzees, you look out for other primate species like the Angola colobus monkeys, forest birds, reptiles and butterflies. Return for lunch, relaxation, dinner and overnight at RDB Gisakura Guest House.

Day 5: Birding Watching/Transfer to Lake Kivu.

After breakfast at the lodge and start birding as we transfer to Gishenyi town which is located on the shores of Lake Kivu via the breathtaking mountains and deep valleys with lunch en-route at Hotel Bethanie. Upon arrival, you can relax at your Hotel or take a boat cruise on Lake Kivu. Dinner and overnight at Paradise Marahindi Hotel.

Day 6: Transfer to Volcanoes national park.

After breakfast, early morning you will drive to Volcanoes national park, reaching in time for briefing about the Golden Monkey tracking. After the activity, have lunch and in the afternoon visit the Karisoke Research center which was established by Diane Fossy who was well known as a woman who protected the Mountain Gorillas. The Research center was established for habituation and deeper study of the Mountain Gorillas. Dinner and overnight at Hotel La-Palme.

Day 7: Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes National Park.

This will be your best day. After breakfast at your lodge or guest house, you will head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing from the RDB wardens. After the briefing, you will then head for gorilla tracking with in Volcanoes national park with the rest of the trackers. Your encounter with these man’s closest shy friends will be a highlight of your Rwanda Safari and the experience you will get this day, will be memorable and your safari will be a once life time to remember.

Gorilla tracking/trekking can take 2 to 8 hours with in this jungle forest and it depends on the movement of the Gorillas on the previous and that particular day. After tracking, you will retire to your hotel for dinner and overnight at Hotel La-Palme.

Day 8: Transfer to Kigali and departure.

After breakfast at the lodge we will start as we transfer to Kigali city. Upon arrival in the city, you will take a short city tour and visit the genocide memorial sites and the traditional markets with in Kigali, craft shops and so on. Later you will be transferred to the Airport to take your flight back home.
