Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 — Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park

Depart Kampala after breakfast, stopping en route at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided rhino tracking walk — the only place in Uganda where rhinos are being reintroduced into the wild. Lunch at Kabalega Dinners, then continue to Murchison Falls NP via Kichumbanyobo Gate, visiting the dramatic Murchison Falls, where the Nile is compressed through a 7-meter gorge and drops 45 meters. Day 2 — Murchison Falls National Park

Morning game drive in the park’s northern sector (elephants, buffalo, giraffes, lions, and more), reached via ferry crossing over the Nile. Afternoon boat cruise along the Nile to view hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and water birds at close range. Overnight: Pakuba Safari Lodge (Full Board)

Day 3 — Murchison Falls to Semuliki National Park

A long (7–8 hour) scenic drive west through the Tooro Kingdom’s tea plantations and rural villages, arriving at remote Semuliki National Park on the DR Congo border. Overnight: Bumaga Camp (Full Board)

Day 4 — Sempaya Hot Springs & Transfer to Kibale

Guided walk to the Sempaya Hot Springs, exploring Semuliki’s tropical forest and geothermal features, followed by a picnic lunch. Afternoon drive on to Kibale National Park. Overnight: Kibale Forest Lodge (Full Board)

Day 5 — Chimpanzee Tracking, Kibale Forest

Morning chimpanzee trekking in Kibale, home to East Africa’s highest primate diversity, with chances to see red and black-and-white colobus, baboons, and red-tailed monkeys. Afternoon guided walk at Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for birdlife and sitatunga antelope. Overnight: Kibale Forest Lodge (Full Board)

Day 6 — Kibale Forest to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Drive through the Crater Lakes region with views of the Rwenzori Mountains (“Mountains of the Moon”). Arrive at Queen Elizabeth NP by late afternoon for an introductory mini game drive. Overnight: Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge (Full Board)

Day 7 — Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Early morning game drive on the Kasenyi plains (lions, hyenas, Uganda kob, elephants). Afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, connecting Lakes George and Edward, for close-up wildlife and bird viewing. Overnight: Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge (Full Board)

Day 8 — Kyambura Gorge Chimp Trekking

Visit Kyambura Wildlife Reserve, tracking chimpanzees within a dramatic rainforest gorge roughly 100 meters deep. Evening game drive around the Kazinga Channel and crater area. Overnight: Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge (Full Board)

Day 9 — Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Drive south through the Ishasha sector, known for tree-climbing lions, elephants, and topi. Continue into the cooler highlands and tea country of southwestern Uganda, arriving at Bwindi, a UNESCO World Heritage rainforest and gorilla sanctuary. Overnight: Trekkers’ Tervan Cottages (Full Board)

Day 10 — Gorilla Trekking, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Briefing at the park visitor center followed by mountain gorilla trekking through dense rainforest terrain. Trek duration varies, but groups are rewarded with a full hour observing a habituated gorilla family up close. Overnight: Trekkers’ Tervan Cottages (Full Board)

Day 11 — Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi

Scenic drive through the Ruhija sector to Kabale, arriving at Lake Bunyonyi, a bilharzia-free lake dotted with 29 islands, often called the “Switzerland of Africa.” Overnight: Bunyonyi Overland Camp, Cottages (Full Board)

Day 12 — Lake Bunyonyi (Leisure Day)

A free day to relax lakeside, with optional activities such as dugout canoe rides, visits to the local Batwa community, or birdwatching (200+ recorded species). Overnight: Bunyonyi Overland Camp, Cottages (Full Board)

Day 13 — Lake Bunyonyi to Lake Mburo National Park

Drive north via Mbarara to Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savanna park, home to zebra, impala, eland, buffalo, leopard, and hyena. Afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo for hippos, crocodiles, and birdlife. Overnight: Eagle’s Nest Camp (Full Board)

Day 14 — Lake Mburo to Kampala

Final morning game drive in Lake Mburo, followed by the drive back to Kampala through Uganda’s central region. Overnight: Forest Cottages, Kampala (Full Board)

Day 15 — Kampala City Tour & Departure

Guided city tour covering the Kasubi Tombs, Bulange (Buganda Royal Senate), the King’s Palace, the Uganda Museum, and the Uganda Martyrs Shrine, Namugongo, plus optional cathedrals and craft markets. Lunch, then transfer to Entebbe International Airport for departure.
